About the Author
Hi, I’m Rachel!
My journey began with a simple belief: every child deserves to find joy in stories.
With a background in specialsed education, I saw how sensory stories engaged and invited learners with additional needs into a fun, wonderous world where they could participate from near or afar, learn new language and communication skills, be creative, be investigators and be SENSE-ational explorers. Â
My stories have been created for all readers, listeners and participants to be able to step inside a world of wonder, to truly be a part of the story through use of their senses.Â
Â
I hope that you enjoy them as much I have enjoyed writing them.
COMING SOON: The SENSE-ational Space, A guide to sensory learning
What is a Sensory Story?
A sensory story is an interactive story that brings words to life through the senses.Â
They can incorporate movement, touch, smell, taste, stimuli to look at and to listen to.
Sensory stories create literacy-rich opportunities for learners to develop core and key vocabulary, deepen language comprehension and practise communication skills within motivating, multi-sensory experiences.

SENSE-ational Stories strives to deliver a comprehensive communication approach to learning, engaging all senses for a richer educational experience. Each story has its own set of symbols, photographs, access to Makaton symbols, key word sentence for each page of the story and colour coded symbols.Â
